Things We Love: Il Papiro

Il Papiro is an Italian artisan company that makes paper goods and products in the old Tuscan tradition. They were established in Firenze in 1976 and have stores all across Italy and a few in Australia. There are two Il Papiros in The States: one in New York and one in West Palm Beach. The pictures below are from the NYC and Palm Beach locations.

We love the timeless elegance and charm of the boutiques and products. Il Papiro reintroduced techniques like hand marbleizing of paper to the market, and with this the renewed taste of hand decorated paper. We look forward to one day making Il Papiro available to our customers. Until then, we'll continue to drool over the photos.

We'd love to hear your feedback on Il Papiro and if you'd like to see it at Paper Emporium. Let us know what you think...

Happy Friday!

"Tis the Season: Officially

At an icy 76˚today, it's official. The Fall/Winter season is upon us. Here's a peek at some of the holiday ornaments and decorations that have been trickling in:

Glue It Yourself: Wax Seal and Tissue Gift Wrap

photographs Gross & Daley

While perusing through an old issue of Victoria Mag, I stumbled upon this adorable arrangement of tissue wrapped gifts banded together with wax sealers. I immediately began pouring over the various colors of wax, stamp designs, tissue hues and glittery string that could be used to recreate this look. Really there are so many options! What a sweet, whimsical little touch for the holidays, or any holiday for that matter. Subdued rainbow hued tissues were used in the photograph above, but you can try your own favorite swatch.
TIP: Wax seal sticks usually supply 10-12 seals each.
You can pick up a a variety of wax at the store. We've got some amazing metallic shades.

The Advent of the Holidays

Oh for some cool weather to put us in the holiday spirit. Perhaps these European Advent calendars produced in the colder climate of Germany will help you get in the mood. A local photographer scours Europe to find just the right structure and setting with plenty of windows and doors. After photographing them he transforms the photos into unique advent calendars with 24 hinged openings, one for every day of December through Christmas Eve. I'm feeling cooler already.
