Journal Workshop

Journal your way to the mountaintop!!!  For many years, parts of ourselves may have lain dormant or under a spell.  This two session workshop will help spark solutions for creative projects, awaken insights into future decisions, and provide perspectives on earlier experiences.

Workshops will be led by Victoria Frigo, writer, editor and instructor of writing who has worked with  Julia Cameron, author of "The Artist's Way".

Attendees will write in their journals in response to simple exercises.  The comments of well-known authors, artists and fellow journalers will serve as a basis for class discussions.  Great for bloggers and would-be-bloggers.

Classes will be held Monday, October 18 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Monday, October 25 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Price $100.00 for two sessions.  Give us a call at the store to reserve your place.

Paper Emporium is going to the dogs...

A good likeness, n'est paw.  this artistic rendition of 'moi' was created by a two legged artist and lover of books.

Denise, founder of 'paste' has taken vintage printed pages from books and incorporated them into images of me and some of my friends.  I think they are quite fetching!  Stop by the store to get the full picture.  Each pup is framed and ready to go.

NYC Gift Show Round Up

Here are photos from our trip to the New York for the gift show last week. There's nothing like getting out of town and uncovering new and exciting things for inspiration. We're so lucky to have followers and customers like yourselves who inspire us to look for unique and interesting discoveries. Here's just a peek at what's to come.

Browsing the show floor....

We were also able to visit decoupage artist John Darian's store. If you're ever in New York, drop in because it's truly an experience. We're obviously drawn to him because of our interest in paper, but his creativity is truly inspiring.

This is Kate's Paperie. We love visiting Kate at Kate's Paperie because she literally has everything. We like to think this is what Paper Emporium could one day be.

There were so many great vendors at the show. We look forward to featuring products from companies like Paste. Paste is a vintage collage art project by Denise Fiedler of San Francisco. She creates different images from cut outs of vintage books. There were many great pieces, but we absolutely had to get the dog collection. There was even a paper Charlie....

Another item we picked up are these Schleeh Morph Pads....

Knob Stoppers wine stoppers...

FG Galassi clocks and frames...

Shiraleah card cases and portfolios....

Rag and Bone Bindery "Twelve Wishes" Books.... These are great fill-in scrap books for newlyweds or baby.

As you can see, the trip was a great success. See you at the store!

Ramble Recap

The opportunity to forage presented itself, and we couldn't resist. Here we are at last years Fairchild Tropical Garden's annual Ramble. The garden festival is a wonderful place to spend a lazy afternoon walking through the lush landscape, collecting glassware, listening to music and eating ice cream. Take note on exactly how wonderful below.

With everything from organic produce to homemade soaps to exotic plants, there was so much to see. Our time flew by pretty quickly. However, we were able to pick up some beautiful glass pieces and antique books. Success! See you at next year's Ramble...
